Fucking Hypocrites.

Social Media Says

This. class="u-nolinkc" href="https://worldnewsinpictures.com/Yes">Yes this. class="u-nolinkc" href="https://worldnewsinpictures.com/This">This is one of my irl buddies.
Rich class="u-nolinkc" href="https://worldnewsinpictures.com/people">people buy books ]literally by the linear foot]() to have the appearance of class="u-nolinkc" href="https://worldnewsinpictures.com/a">a library.
As class="u-nolinkc" href="https://worldnewsinpictures.com/a">a poor, the thing that most limits my physical library is class="u-nolinkc" href="https://worldnewsinpictures.com/a">a lack of space to actually store the books. class="u-nolinkc" href="https://worldnewsinpictures.com/I">I love an actual paper book, but am also very fond of my tablet, and all the books class="u-nolinkc" href="https://worldnewsinpictures.com/I">I can store there.

What You Really Think

Rich people can hire a book expert to select leather bound first editions of all the "right" books that will make the rick person look cultured and intelligent. They will have read none of them. Me, I just get used copies of books I intend to read off abe-books and stack them in the corner next to my bed and laundry hamper.

I have multiple full bookshelves and nearly every book I own currently has or at one time had a sticker from Goodwill on it.

Also, one can at times find big LCD/LED TVs on clearance, or as refurbished for stupid cheap. Or otherwise from the waste transfer site in otherwise good possibly even working condition. Maybe missing a remote, of they need a capacitor change in the back. $5-10 fix for a 60 inch flat screen. Seriously the 40" one hung on the wall in the garage was like $175 on clearance before the pandemic, and the wall mount was a garbage transfer site find... fine the picture is grainy and such, but its in the garage and i can hookup an old laptop to it to display diagrams and instructions for other stuff I'm trying to fix. The whole TV argument is like that shitty "microwaves mean you are rich" nonsense that idiots like Shapiro get in to. Its not meant to be accurate, or realistic its meant to distract people away from the real issues and discussions leading to answers involving them.

My father brought a bunch of books for his library. The guy doesn't even read and the books are still in the plastic. It is entirely just to show off.

I had to read the first sentence like five times. Im also really high.

The show-offs are nouveaux riche. Real wealthy people are above the crass culture we all enjoy.

Right? I'd have a fucking massive library if I could afford it.

I was looking for glue today, in every drawer I looked I just found more books haha. (I think I have a problem).

Right? Once I went to a second hand sale and got 17 books for $30.

I wish my book collection translated to livable income. But like people give me dozens of books FOR FREE cause no one's paying money for these collections of papers. I have a lot to read and my living room looks cool cause it's packed with books. That's the extent of the usefulness of having many books I also straight up do not have a TV and it's not cause I'm rich it's cause I can't be bothered. I have a phone and a PC monitor. Why would I waste money on a TV?

I just have a kindle :x.

]deleted].

I have 4.

There's a difference between poverty library and rich library. A poverty library has plenty of well read books that are taken care of lovingly. A rich persons library is custom ordered to fill bookshelves by measurement. They are never read, and are only talked about as a set piece. Moral of the story, never compare a poverty and a rich library.

If you get enough to survive you should be grateful. Thwts more than youve earned with the fruits of your labor.

So unnecessarily aggressive..

Maybe thats why you are poor /s.

Hands up. Bullshit like in OP is just trying to gaslight poor people. Whether by convincing you it's "your fault", claiming that they're doing you and the world a great service by being rich, or (when all fails) falling back to convincing you that there's nothing you can do about it. It all exists to prevent poor people from trying to engage in any form of effective, organized resistance.

**wish I could spare you a proper award. This comment needs to be on top.**.

Poor people have long hours in sex-less work orgies that is controlled by people that live in multi-million dollar Manhattan penthouses on a regular basis.

60" isnt large anymore, you are looking at the small ones there. But yes, books are more expensive on the same space required.

And i think he meant richness in different way than people here assume. You don't need to have money to be rich.

I always found that interesting.

Louder.

Richest person I ever met was some morbidly obese college kid that I took russian with. He failed every test and didn't care, would show up late and had the balls to say "Oh I was sleeping" or "yeah I flew three states away for a baseball game last night," never did homework, etc. But they kept passing himbecause daddy had money. He eventually transfered to a super expensive, private university in his home state. Dude was a literal, walking, talking pile of shit.

Most arent dumb. Just narcissistic and egotistical.

The worse part is that they think they earned their wealth with hardwork, they are literally delusional. there was an experiment done with monopoly where they gave some players advantages (more money) and when they won the game they said they won because their skills.

Doesn't really matter if they inherited the money or not cause in the end they'll live a wonderful life with no worries about money while all of us suffer through life just to get enough to go by. We can hate them and insult them all we want but that won't change how shitty our lives are.

It really depends how rich we talking.

I was just going to ask if rich people even read. Like what books do Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk own? A handful of cheesy self help books they can try to hock during interviews so people buy those and follow that advice instead of actually bettering themselves?

They're parroting the lines people used to sell them their books... I buy so many books and courses...

I have about 15 books Ive bought and added the past five years. I also have a TON of childrens books for my 4 kids. Does that count hahaha.

I have a lot of books. Halo, comic books... Etc... I am not rich. Lol.

I loved reading as a kid and still try to get some reading done before bedtime. My extremely rich cousin knew this and often lent books to me, every time strongly suggesting me to read it, it was "lifechanging" for him etc. I later found out that he never read a single book that he gave me. He just bought or collected books, accumulated them in a huge bookshelf made from fine oak or something pretentious like that so that he could give off the appearance of being well-read and smart.

I dont know anything regarding reading in general and intelligence, but I did see a study that linked reading with higher empathy (even if its a dumb novel). Id have to search for a link as I didnt save it, but I always found that interesting.

Obviously a hot button for you, but there's a strong correlation between reading and higher intelligence and also between tv-watching and lower intelligence. This doesn't mean smart people don't watch TV and it's not an attack on you or the truth of what you just said, it's just statistical reality.

It's just how the rich perceive as being smart. Doubt they enter their 'library' anyway.

There really isnt that much smart TV to be honest. All those documentaries, if you look into who is speaking or what is being said its usually a bunch of bullshit.

Its more about interest and passion. If you are just mindlessly watch garbage TV vs. actively watching and critiquing themes in movies is the same idea. People just associate readers with people who are more passionate and interested in specific subjects than TV/movie viewers. Which in general is true, if you put in the effort to find and read a book you are probably more passionate than someone who watched some 15 min. video and pretends to know a lot about the subject.

Twitter.

You. Are. On. Reddit.

Humans just wanna chill and listen to stories. We've been doing since we were laying around the fire. Let people enjoy their stories in the medium they want to consume them in.

Time you enjoy wasting, isn't wasted time. The question is, are you enjoying what you're watching, or just sitting there, not really caring or paying attention, zombie-style in front of the tube, checked out mentally? All recreation is time that could be spent doing other things. TV is mocked, as it's too "common" an entertainment.

Or if you're close enough to a library, there's a **lot** that can be found. is another good source.
